Jayne is an Associate with more than 15 years’ construction experience. Jayne’s specialism is in non-contentious construction, with a great breadth of knowledge in her field. Jayne manages the non-contentious side of Shulmans’ construction team under Partner, Sarah Wilson.
Clients have included PLCs, major national and international retailers, property developers, funders, off-shore trusts, consultants and contractors. Jayne has also advised business owners who need to undertake critical and strategic works to complete significant extension and renovation works to their commercial and manufacturing premises.
Jayne works closely with our Residential Development and the Commercial Property teams, providing a range of support work on larger transactions. This can involve advice on specific issues, such as letters of reliance, to complex due diligence and development agreement negotiations on property acquisitions or funding arrangements.
Jayne leads her team advising on a range of non-contentious complex development projects nationally. These schemes have seen the regeneration of brown field sites into new-build student accommodation, retail parks, and residential property. Development values have been in the region of £20 million to £50 million.
Jayne advises on a full range of industry standard forms of contracting with a particular specialism in JCT procurement. Jayne also advises on drafting bespoke agreements for construction, engineering, ground remediation and demolition matters.
In addition to primary building contracts, Jayne also advises regularly on procurement documentation, including professional appointments, collateral warranties, bonds, parent company guarantees and sub-contracts.
Jayne also has experience of drafting complex framework agreements and payment procedures.
Projects Jayne has worked on include:
- New builds for commercial, industrial and retail properties and refurbishing existing spaces into apartments;
- School academies;
- Major supermarket and mixed-use retail schemes;
- Industrial premises;
- Hotels; and
- Residential developments, student accommodation projects and leisure schemes.
Jayne is a member of the Society of Construction Law and regularly attends professional development events both in Yorkshire and London.
