Insider Property Leaders’ Forum - ‘Planning properties’
On 18 April, Amanda Beresford attended an Insider Property Leaders’ round table which explored how planning changes could affect Yorkshire’s housing market. This is one of four forums which Shulmans are sponsoring this year.
Representatives from the public, private and charity sectors attended this event which also looked at the potential for green belt reform.
Much of the debate focussed around the consultation on the revised National Planning Policy Framework (“NPPF”) which the Government published in early March. There have been mixed views from planners and developers; it will be interesting to see the results of the consultation which ended in May. Amanda produced a summary of the proposed changes before the consultation ended, alongside a commentary of whether they should be welcomed. That can be viewed here.

The revised National Planning Policy Framework is due in the summer. As part of her work as a member of the British Chambers of Commerce, National Planning Experts Panel, Amanda will be meeting Government ministers to discuss proposed changes to the NPPF.
