Head of Insurance, Contentious Probate and Professional Negligence
Described by the Chambers & Partners directory as “efficient and focused”, and as “a first-rate solicitor who brings intellectual rigour to the problems facing him”, Robert jointly heads up our dispute resolution team. He also heads our insurance litigation practice, which is one of only a handful of specialist teams outside the City of London that acts directly on behalf of insurers and Lloyd’s syndicates.
In his wider dispute resolution practice, Robert mainly deals with high-value commercial and professional practice disputes.
In addition, Robert acts for various insurers, MGAs and Lloyd’s syndicates, managing claims on behalf of the insurer or its insured. Much of that work relates to legal/title indemnity policies, predominantly connected to commercial property development schemes.
Robert also has considerable experience and expertise in managing product liability claims, business interruption claims and wider insurance disputes to a successful conclusion.
Robert has a calm and thorough approach and particular skill in achieving negotiated solutions to often complex problems.
Robert is also highly experienced in conducting mediations leading to cost-effective and early settlement of claims without trial. Robert is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
